Depending on where you live Rudy's or Floyd's are a hipper version of supercuts. But I have admit I have forked out a chunk of change for a crappy dye %26amp; cut at an expensive salon and gone to Fantastic Sams and have gotten a fabulous job. It all depends on the stylist. Try posting on your local Craigslist too.
Some salons may just do your roots for you at a cheaper cost. Ring round the salons and find someone who does. Your looking at about 16 pound for a root colour with hair wahed etc x
my friend has same color hair and she gets her's blondish/light brown at supercuts and it looks great! just dont do anything too complex.
I would suggest calling about model night at the pricey salons. The apprentices take their own clients on those nights for little to no money. I would NEVER even have those places blowdry my hair much less anything else. Best of luck.

I went to Supercuts once and yeah, they washed my hair, and then they did blow dry it. You can ask for a dry cut though where they won't wash your hair. I've also got frizzy hair, but I was hardly embarrassed cos they straightened it for me.
I'm not sure how super cuts is but most places I've gotten my haircut they charge you $5 to blow dry it--all you do is tell you you don't want it dried.

Okay as a stylist I would personally suggest that you do not go to any ';fly-by'; salons like supercuts, great clips, etc. Salons like that usually aren't as strict on the stylist that are hired there. Stylist that might do a bad or so-so job are able to find work there. Where as in a ';real'; salon, you must do multiple cuts before you are hired and each are inspected by the manager to see how your cutting style is and your ability level. I don't think they're the best option available to get your hair cut. Instead of going there go to a salon!
It's not really the place that you have to worry about being good,it's more the sylist that you go to and wether they can do a good job to where you like what they did with your hair.
The thing with chain salons is that they offer a lot more to their employees (like insurance, benefits) than most of your independent shops out there. I've found that most of the stylists don't enjoy working there, but they need to and have to for the benefits (and they aren't going to give the best cuts or service if they're unhappy). They also cater to the fresh-out-of-beauty-school kids, so you never know if you're going to get someone that's been doing hair for 10 years or 10 minutes! I think the best stylists are ones that are working independently, but it's hard to say because sometimes you might find a great one at a chain salon too. It's just hard to take that gamble. My biggest tip: if you're looking for a new stylist... get referrals!!!
Well personally I haven't really liked them much the last couple of times I have gone there. They might be okay for a very little trim, but I wouldn't recommend them for an actual haircut/style. That's just my opinion though.

Sometimes they do good work. Generally (but not always) the stylists that work there are right out of school. Unfortunately, it's a hit or miss situation.
Only as good as the stylist that gets paid minimum wage. You can tell while talking to them and telling them what kind of a cut you want if they will be good. If they seem to care what you are saying and understand as you explain then you are in good hands. If not then you best run. If you notice that they are not doing as good a job as you would like then ask for someone else to finish the job. I have done this a few times and there are no hard feelings and I save my do.
Supercuts is similiar in price class to fantastic sams. You will probably find about the same skill level there! Try finding a stylist you know does a good job at one of these less expensive places and sticking with him/her (this works easier than going from salon to salon!
Supercuts is on the same level as Fantastic Sams. It's under $20 for a cut, but I don't recommend it if you're going for a funky cut - they do better with simple styles. Generally speaking, if you want your hair to stand out, it's going to cost you! I go to Supercuts myself, so I certainly don't have a problem with them, but I have a very simple style with minimal layers. If you want something more elaborate without paying an arm and a leg, try going to an Aveda Institute - the prices are reasonable, and as it's a school you'll be having your hair cut by someone who's still being trained, but the instructors are present and should be able to assist if the cut you want is very complicated. Be sure to bring a picture of what you want!

That totally depends on the cosmetologist. To be hired and to work in a salon you have to have your degree in cosmetology, not to mention going back for updated classes every so often. Super-cuts is a lower-end salon. But the people who work there are professionals. So it just really depends. But if it is very important to you that it is done perfectly you might want to shell out the extra cash for some one more recommended or experienced.
If you're just going for a trim that will follow the original cut, then you should be ok. They don't wash your hair and they have a time limit for each customer (10 minutes per customer). Other than just a quick trim I'd stay away from them completely. I went to them once years ago and I'll never go back. They butchered my hair and had to get it re-done at a real salon.

I think it depends on your hair type. I have straight easy to work with hair and I've tried to go to both a nice fancy salon and haircuttery and it looked the same. Also, if you are going to get a basic haircut or a new style.. new fancy style i'd do it at the expensive place just because they're supposed to be more chic and trendy but anything basic go to Haircuttery..Hair cuttery/Supercuts vs. Expensive salons - stylist difference?
It's a mix of two things, skill and training. There are Stylists, Barbers, Hair Designers %26amp; Hair Technician. The more training you get, the more you can offer your clients. There are some Barbers who are amazing at cutting hair but make poor stylists. Then there are the Designers %26amp; Technician who usually have a lot more training than just a barber.





However, no matter how much training you have, it comes down to your skill as an artist.





Skilled ';Hair Artists'; end up working for themselves usually, the others work at ';Super Cuts';.
I've been to both, hair cuttery type salons and expensive salons, I believe the quality and finishing of an expensive salon is better, most of the times. (Unless one runs into an inexperienced stylist or something. I always do some research before going to a new salon, especially an expensive one and the expensive salons will also give you a free consultation most of the time if you ask for one.
well its probably the stylist, because some people got it %26lt;talent%26gt; and some don't...usually the people who don't get good clientele end up at a place like supercuts. my hair dresser or rents a booth at a salon and she has a big clientele i work in a hospital and i send her lots of people. just like here in the hospital i draw blood from babies and kids and there are people that come here and cant hang or get it so they get sent off to a dr's office or some outpatient place.

There is this smoking hot haircutter at the local super cuts i go to. She is really quiet, unlike most haircutters who usually chat it up. Its always quiet. Just like anything else, you have to try to know.


Try flirting with her first, see if she takes the bait. Also, it might help to get to know her a little first.. for all you know, she may be happily married.


If it flops, you might want to try a new salon. Unless you are brave enough to face her every time you need a haircut and you know she turned you down.

Just ask! Strike up a conversation and ask! Girls like assertive guys, just don't be too cocky.
Start with light-hearted conversation to get to know her a little before you ask. You need to find out if she's married, dating or even available. All of this you can do through casual conversation. If you can't get her involved in casual conversation, it's not going to happen anyway. Just compliment her on the great cuts and give her a nice tip.





If you ask her out and get rejected, you'll need to find another haircutter unless you are particularly resistant to hard feelings.


Also, if you are not a good tipper-don't even bother. It also wouldn't hurt to dress nice when you go in for your cuts-casual but nice.

I can only give you advice for future hair cuts: find a good hair stylist. You probably won't find him/her at Super Cuts or the salon in the Wal-Mart. Look on the internet for message boards in your home town, people love to post about hair stylists they like/dislike. Or ask around. Find someone people like and trust. And once you find that special hair stylist, stick with them like GLUE.





Recently, I went to a hair salon in a Wal-Mart to get highlights. BIG MISTAKE. I ended up with two or three chunks of white on only the top layer of my hair. I made her try to fix it... I ended up with copper chunks of hair. I was devastated.





I did some investigating and found Renee. She fixed my hair and earned my trust. I will only have her do my hair from now on.





Don't trust your hair to just anyone. You can find a great hair stylist if you look. I live in a very small town, but was able to find a great stylist.





As far as your hair now: take a multivitamin every day, use a leave-in conditioner, air dry your hair when you can, avoid the flat iron when you can. Use a gentle shampoo and always use conditioner. And don't shampoo every day. I'm learning NOT to wash/dry/fix my hair every day. I have read it is good for the shape of your hair to give it a break.

My very best haircut, ever, was done at a $5 haircut place in Nevada. No one after that could cut my hair the same way. It was the particular stylist.
I don't really think so. It's really uncomfortable sitting in a chair when little kids are screaming and stuff. I reccomend a private stylist who has a salon in her basement and is trustable or a more adult salon like aveda. Salon spas are also very good. Even though they are pricy, professional salons are in all worth the expense.

No, usually you don't unless for some reason they are extremely busy. Most of the time you can just walk right in, wait a few minutes, and they'll bring you back to get cut.

Can't tell you about that specific location, but wherever you go you'll get more attention and a better haircut if you go when they're slow (typically middle of the day during the week). It's risky. Some of the hairdressers can be ok but you never know who you are going to get. I had a very bad experience there so I won't go again. I went for a trim of my long hair. My haridresser kept chatting the whole time with a mother and son who were her last customers. She was so goo-goo about that little kid that she did not listen to a word I said to her. I had to shout - I just want a TRIM, a 1'; trim!!!! Well, the next thing I see is a 5 inch portion of my hair hitting the ground. I left the salon with a dopey ear-length haircut. The stupid salon owner even said to me ';Oh, you got a whole new look today';. I wiped my tears away and glared at her. You get what you pay for!

The cost depends on where you live. Around here it's around $10 for a shampoo %26amp; cut at these places. Honestly it's hard to say which place is best, because it doesn't matter what beauty shop you go to (cheap or not), there's going to be good %26amp; bad stylist. Most salons have stylist who have been doing hair a short time AND stylist who have been doing hair a long time. Different stylists cut different hair types better then others. No matter where you go, it's all a ';luck of the draw';.

I just got a wash, cut and blowdry at Lewisham for 拢25. They quoted me 拢22, but then told me I needed some extra conditioning stuff which bumped it up to 拢25. They also tried to sell me a lot of stuff, I hate it when hairdressers do that. If you want to keep the cost down just ask them to cut it and not dry it, you can do that at home, save yourself about 拢10.

my hair was and is very long (middle of my back and a little lower) and six months ago at supercuts, i had a wash, a fairly simple cut (trimmed all round and feathers put in at the front) and a blow dry, it cost me 拢28. (don't believe the from prices in thier window). if you are having layers, which is more a more detailed cut than mine it will cost more.

You should probably just go to a normal salon, either one like Mario Tricocci or one that is single standing. They are usually better. You can also ask what haircut would look best on you. They usually will give suggestions that you like or will like. Hope it helped.

Um, why are you even asking? That haircut is basically only a buzz cut with a little line on the side. Probably like 8 bucks.

Assisting at the right salon does not mean you are everyone's maid! Look into the training program and find out how it works. Most people get the exact same schooling, so it doesn't matter where you go really. The problem you will run into is people who aren't use to doing ';modern'; styles. If you sit down in Grandma's chair, you'll probably get a grandma haircut.





Just remember, you often get what you pay for. That being said, I know TONS of people who have gone to ';name brand'; salons and get horrid hair cuts because they are being TOO modern. Try to go to someone you trust. If its your first time, take pictures and ask them if they are comfortable doing that style and if they've done it before.

The fact that you absolutley don't need an appointment worries me, and that they use the word ';fast'; in your haircutting experience...if someone's cutting my hair, which would be a change that will stay with me for a while, I want for my stylist to take their time!





Also the fixed rates, a good salon would tell you how much for every kind of cut, style, or length. They all contribute to the price, and a place that boasts low prices are not the people I would want to trust with my hair.

I wanted my hair trimmed, and they cut about 8 inches off my length and made me look like a boy. I was soo unsatisfied i called up the owner of the shop, went in and showed her and still they wouldnt refund my money. It took 3 years for my hair to grow back out.


Try a different shop, the service and quality SUCKS !

The haircare superstores like Supercuts have a very high turnover rate so the employees do not have much of a vested interest in whether you are a satisfied customer and they often don't have much experience, especially with color which can be very tricky. Good color (and cut) people tend to work at established salons. Ask for someone with experience and ask what that experience is when you call to book your appt. Good luck!

if you want it just flat ironed, probably $10-$15-ish. if you are wanting a chemical straightener, probably $40-$50-ish.


but don't get a chemical at supercuts. you would just be asking for trouble. don't ever get a chemical at a budget salon. they are all about quantity, not quality.


just call them in the morning and ask them what they charge for a flat iron. specify if you want it shampooed and blow dried as well, or if you just want it flat ironed only. they should at least give you a price range.

Ew, don't go to Supercuts. Dye over your old dye using a SEMIpermanent dye. Clairol Natural Instincts is great and comes in tons of shades. It doesn't harm your hair either.

its okay for men mostly but if youre a female dont go there. they really have no experience with updos and their hair color is not permanent. since the stylists are made to do a certain number of heads per hour to make more money on their paychecks, they want to get you in and out of their chair as fast as possible..i once saw a man get his hair cut in under 8 minutes, but thats a dude.





bangs cost 8 bucks to get done, and you might wanna bring in a picture of EXACTLY what you want or youre gonna get screwed.
i never go to a stylist, just regular old great clips or fantastic sams. but if u find a pic of what you want, then show them and they will get it right. also, you can explain that you want the side bangs layered.





and a quick word of advice - make sure ur part is in the spot you want it, otherwise the bangs will look very wrong because if you change the spot where ur part is...it will change where your bangs will be. good luck!

Not everyone can afford $200 haircuts.


Personally, I go to the local beauty college and I have never had a problem, because all the work is check over by a teacher before and after the procedure.
They'll be a lot cheaper than the other places but you'll get what you pay for.

The only difference is the name. It all depends on who you get and how good they are with hair. You could try calling each place and asking for a senior stylist, someone with more experience. I'm not sure if places like that will call their stylists ';senior';, but they can probably tell you who has more experience. If you find a stylist that you like stick to them, it's very hard to find someone who will give you a great haircut every time (the way you want it, of course).

She has also been colleagues with people at both that seemed to be lacking some skills. Before I met my current stylist, the one forementioned, I would always ask who specialized in color, or cut when I walked through the door. They are usually honest and pointed me to the right person.

Depends on the experience they have. They should know HOW to do it, but that doesn't mean they are good at doing it.





My suggestion if you aren't getting a blunt trip or you're a 12 year old boy you should cough up the 40 (this is a decent price for a good cut) and go to a person who actually has to build their client猫le-which proves they know what they're doing.

They could, however it's hit or miss with them. I haven't had much luck in the past, though you may find people there who know what their doing. If I can't afford much I go to Fiesta Salons. I love Attitudes! If there is an attitudes by you it is 30 for a wash and cut (unless your a guy then 21) and it's really worth the money because they know what they're doing. They also take good care of you and will fix anything about your new style you don't like along with showing you styling tips.

DO NOT GO TO SUPERCUTS. NO MATTER WHAT DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! unless ur willing to have them cut off 4 inches when u said 1 and to totaly f*ck ur hair up DO NOT GO THERE!! if u hae a very simple haircut where your hair is all one length, go ahead, just be EXTREMELY specific about how much u want them to trim off. but if ur hairstyle is a little more complicated with layers and stuff GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. 2-3 months ago they completely screwed up my hair. i was crying for DAYS it looked so bad. i never like my hair when i go there and they even screwed up my 2 best friends hair. they ct off 5 inches from one of them when she said 3 and they cut my other friends bangs an inch above her bangs and made the rest of her hair like an oompa loompas.

Supercuts is ok if you want cheap and nasty - there are a few good people in there - like in one I went to there was this Jamaican woman who was seriously brilliant with hair!





Unfortunately she left to go work in an afro-salon somewhere else so never saw her again.





If you want highlights then it might be worth going somewhere with a bit more insurance if things go wrong - supercuts are notorious for not caring about bad feedback.





No idea how much it costs - ive seen hghlights go wrong and i never ever take chances with dying my hair - especially if it involves bleach and it burns your hair and then you have to wait til it heals before you can fix it.





I always found that home stylists are best for highlights - specially the smaller ones.





If a hair stylist has more to lose then they try harder not to lose it =]

at custom cuts it's around 10 dollars and goes up to 20 dollars if u get waxed eyebrows or like a shampoo and conditioner wash I saw the poster things with all prices on it when I was waitind for a hair cut

Might not be the best place to go....I mean, theres a reason why other professional salons cost 100 dollars and up.





But I mean, are you gonna go just so they can cut a couple inches off? Might not be bad, you know?





It also depends on who cuts your hair. Ask your friends who go there who they like.


Like with me, theres this Asian lady who I will NOT GO NEAR because last time......well it was just horrible lol.


But I usually pick this chick named Karlie...cause I like the way she cuts it, and on top of that, she's kind of cute. :)

when i was younger i got my hair cut there. it was fine. if it is bad, realize that it IS hair and it WILL grow out.
There are bad hairdressers in really good places where you could pay a 100 bucks the best thing is to ask friends where they get their hair done
it depends on the area and hairstylist. SuperCuts is a real good company. I used to go there when i was little.
Supercuts is a good place they dont screw up your hair at all. I would rate it a 10.

In my opinion, it's best to go there if you want something basic. I've been to Supercuts, as well as other shops similar to it, and they don't do the best job at styling hair (then again, styling female hair is a lot different than styling a male's hair). It could vary greatly by each individual Supercuts branch, but I say if you want a basic cut for cheap, it's a good place to go.
It's hit or miss. I've never had a problem there, but once when i went with my friend she said they cut her hair too short. Shorter then what she asked for. Good prices though.
I never liked my hair when i got it cut at supercuts. They only do quick and easy cuts. I would try somewhere else.
